FROM YOUR EXECUTIVE BOARD
July 10, 2006
We remind you that the NLRB election will be held over two days at VFW Post 3809, 5049 Central Avenue, Middletown, Ohio:
Wednesday, July 26 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Thursday, July 27 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Please remember to bring valid identification – picture i.d.’s are best. And remember, the AEIF appears on the ballot only because – in order to continue representing you in negotiations until the election – we could not disclaim interest in the election. Nonetheless, we endorse the IAM, and we encourage you to cast your ballot for the IAM.
We met this morning in negotiations with the Company for approximately 45 minutes, and presented the Company with some revisions to our July 6 comprehensive counterproposal. Our counterproposal includes a proposed resolution of the current retiree situation, which requires retiree approval of any agreement. Our counterproposal is complete; it addresses each of the “4 issues” the Company insisted were necessary to a competitive agreement: workforce flexibility, no base force guarantees, active and retiree health care cost-sharing, and a lock & freeze on the current pension plan. The Company can end this lockout by accepting this counterproposal.
We continue to press for a competitive and equitable labor agreement.
Our next membership meeting will be held at the DAV at 4610 Trenton-Franklin Road this Thursday, July 13, 2006. We will have two (2) meetings. The first one will be an informational meeting (11:00 a.m.), and the second one will be for regular business and questions and answers (4:00 p.m.) Please plan on attending one of the meetings.
