by Mark Jauss, Monroe Schools Music Director
"Between the Lines" is a pop-a cappella group from Monroe High School made up mostly of upperclassmen. "BTL" rehearses after school every Wednesday from 2:45-4:45PM and will be a group which sings both for school-sponsored events and throughout the community of Monroe.
The director of the group, Mark Jauss, is thrilled to have a group like this because the music is a lot of fun to perform and the group has the potential to energize the entire Monroe choral program. "BTL" consists of five sopranos, five altos, five tenors, four basses, and a vocal percussionist (similar to "beat-boxing").
Everything is sung without accompaniment! "BTL's" first performance will be as the closing act for the Monroe High School Choir Concert on Tuesday, May 18. The concert will be in the high school's main auditorium and will begin at 7PM. In addition, the group will be premiering a piece which was arranged especially for them; Lionel Richie's "You Are."
The piece was arranged by a current member of "Fight Club," an all-male a cappella group that Mark (Jauss) started while attending Wright State. Hope to see you at the concert on May 18 for the first-ever in-school performance of "BETWEEN THE LINES!" You won't want to miss it!
