Boil Advisory Lifted

The boil water advisory was lifted Wednesday, March 17 at 4:15 p.m. No contaminants were found.

The City of Monroe Water Department has announced that a Boil Water Advisory has been enacted due to a water main break at South Sands and Carson Road in Monroe.
The advisory is a precaution and will be in effect for
48 hours. The City is required to take samples from the area of the break and to have them tested for contaminants. These tests take 48 hours. Once the results prove negative for any contaminant, the City will lift the advisory. If the contaminant is detected, the City will extend the advisory.

The following streets have been affected: Carson Road west of South Sands Avenue (305-317); South Sands Avenue (724-891); Lee Drive, Lee Court, Woodyard Drive, Raymond Drive, Scott Alan Drive and Douglas Avenue. Door hangers have been posted on these homes to notify residents.

The break occurred at approximately 8:00 a.m. The cause of the break is undetermined at this time.

Under a boil advisory, it is advisable to bring the water you will use for drinking, cooking and all personal hygiene to a rolling boil for three minutes.
