Brock Likely to be appointed to City Manager Post
Wednesday, January 14, 2004 10:34:23 AM - Monroe Ohio
In a closed session Tuesday, January 13, 2004, council members discussed the vacant city manager’s position. Acting city manager and city engineer, Bill Brock, (who has been wearing 2 hats since the termination of Monroe City Manager, Donald Whitman last spring) is likely to be made city manager.

Mayor Bob Routson said the council probably will not bring in outside candidates for the position. He said “For right now, he’s an acting city manager, as he has been for 10 months, and he’s doing an excellent job. We don’t look to appoint anyone else.”

Bill Brock is not the only one wearing 2 hats, Jay Stewart has been acting city treasurer since the termination of Monroe City Treasurer Dave Collins. Both Collins and Whitman were terminated around the same time last spring for reasons that are more clear today, than at the time. Brock and Stewart have improved the cash position of the city by approximately $1million since the departure of the former City Manager and City Treasurer. The city now appears more fiscally fit than last year at this time.
