Council Approves New Development

Tuesday, January 27, 2004, Monroe Council approved Monroe Crossings, a 10 year, 1000 unit development on west end of town at the intersection of RT4 and RT63. Councilman Bob Kelley spoke to the developer at the planning commission meeting. They told him under ideal conditions only 100-110 homes per year will be built.

Monroe Crossings was developed with the school board. Arnol Elam and the board signed off on the PUD. This will restrict growth to meet current school enrollment projections. Keeping the current enrollment projections within plan.

However, there are other developments in Monroe. There is an increasing interest in locating to Monroe due to the new school being built, the central location of Monroe and the high value and low cost of housing. How do you feel about the new developments in Monroe? Click here to answer our survey.
