Tuesday, June 03, 2003 12:00:00 AM - Monroe Ohio
Fifth graders at Monroe Elementary recently participated in a program lasting several weeks called DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education). This program was taught by Deputy Clark. The students learned about drugs and alcohol and how to avoid becoming involved with them. They also learned how to deal with peer pressure and gangs. At the conclusion of the program students were required to write an essay about what they learned. The four top essays were chosen and the grand prize winner won a bicycle. Top essays were written by Dusti Loreant, Ashley Cooper, and Hilary Pierce. Grand prize winner was Rachel Klaiber.
