Destination Middletown for an Arts Packed Weekend!!
 
 
The Art Central Foundation is pleased to announce that the heart of an arts packed weekend is in the Art Central Distirct in Middletown. The event packed weekend begins with the opening Got Art! Art walk on April 29th from 1-5:00 p.m. Most of Central Ave., from the river to the railroad, will be closed to traffic and open for pedestrians to meet with artists and view their work from 1-5:00 pm on April 29th.  There will be serveral stations along the walk where patrons can watch artist demonstrations.  Artists that have committed to being demonstrators include painters David Bailey, Linda Fisler, and Todd Butt, weaver Martha Donley, and ceramicists Jean Ann Bolliger and Adrianna DePalma. The event is free to the public.
 
Following the art walk will be a wine tasting hosted by the Art Central Foundation,  Solera Imports and Jungle Jim's from 6-9:00 pm at the Temple Arts Theater located at 4 N. Main.  Many local restaurants will be providing delicious appetizers to snack on while enjoying the wine selections.  The wine tasting event costs $25.00 per person which is tax deductible as the proceeds will benefit two non profit organizations: Rising Phoenix Theater and the Art Central Foundation.  There will be a silent auction. The Middletown Historic Society's opening of "Through Their Lens" is an exhibit of significant historical Middletown Photographers in the Pickwick Building (56 S. Main St.).  It features the works of William Watson, Armco photographer Tom Portsmouth, Bill Weith, and others.
 
The Middletown Arts Center features an exhibit of "Tomorrow's Artist's Today" through May 4th. This exhibit features works from artists between the ages of 13 and 19, living within a 50 mile raidus of Middletown. The Gallery Exhibit features Paul O. Fox, a pastel artist from Miamisburg, Ohio.  Paul has been a student at the center since 1971.  On April 29th, the day of the Got Art! Art Walk, the Arts Center will feature a RAKU Pottery Firing in the courtyard behind the Arts Center.  All events are free to the public.
 
Other events include a concert at Road Apple Music featuring the Independents with For Sound or Reason, Eighty sixed and Admitted Dilemma starting at 6:00 pm.  Road Apple Music is Middletown's newest and biggest hot spot for live music and is located at 65 S. Main St.
 
The Middletown Lyric Theater is presenting "Is There Life After High School?" by Jeffrey Kindley and Craig Carnelia and directed by Chris Beiser.  This is a "memory musical".  Join the cast as they play various characters remembering the joy, the laughter and the pain of what it was like to go through high school.  The dates of their performances are April 27th,28th,29th and 30th at 8:00 pm.
 
On April 30th, The Middletown Symphony, Music Director Carmon DeLeone, who is also the music director for the Cincinnati Ballet, will be joined by Dimitri and Anita Ratser (piano soloists) for an afternoon (3:00 pm) matinee performance at Finkelman Auditorium.  Saint-Saens', Mendelsohn's and Mozart's works will be highlighted by this fabulous Symphony.
 
The Manchester Inn is offering special rates for this art packed weekend.
