by Ann Hinkle:

The Hornet Boosters Club will meet tonight at 7:00 @ the Media Center.  ALL are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Monroe High School and the Monroe Area Community Foundation have joined together to host a Jamboree Football Night on this Friday August 21. The Monroe Varsity Football team will be playing West Carrollton in a game type scrimmage. New OHSAA rules permit schools to partner with a host and hold a benefit game. The Monroe Area Community Foundation will be the beneficiary as they are directly responsible for providing numerous scholarships to Monroe students. Admission to the game will be $4.00 for adults and $2.00 for students. All proceeds will go to the Monroe Area Community Foundation. No passes will be accepted.

This Saturday the Boys Soccer team hosts Roger Bacon in a scrimmage: JV at 5 pm and Varsity at 7pm.  Should be quite the game against a strong opponent like Roger Bacon.

Sunday:  Hornet Day @ 5:00!!!!!!!!

The Monroe Athletic Hall of Fame Committee is seeking nominations from Hornet Fans and alumni.  Deadline for submissions for the Class of 2009 is August 31, 2009.  Go to www.hornethallway.com and click on Hall of Fame for nomination forms and information on where to send donations.  We all know Monroe High School has many outstanding alumni who would meet all the criteria to enter this prestigious club and be honored for the recognition they deserve.  Please take the time to submit a former athlete’s name to the committee for consideration.  As Bob Miller wrote, “Let us be proud to recognize our rich heritage of athletic accomplishments!  With your support, The Monroe High School Hall of Fame can be the best Hall of Fame in the county.”
No reason to be bored this week - come out and support the student-athletes!
GO HORNETS!
