Hornet Highlights
Wednesday, October 26, 2005 4:55:04 PM - Monroe Ohio

Hornet Fans,

¨      With last weeks’ win against Fenwick, the Football team is guaranteed a spot in the playoffs.  Tonight, the boys will host Dayton Stebbins @ 7:30.  And looking ahead, the last game of the regular season is next Friday, October 28 @ home against Edgewood.  This will be the 3rd Monroe game broadcasted this year by Jack Gordon on WPFB.  If you can’t attend the Edgewood game, tune in to WPFB.

¨      In the Sectional Tournament, the Girls soccer team defeated Eaton 6-0 Monday and Dayton Oakwood 3-0 last evening.  Their next game is Monday evening against Kettering Alter – an away game.

¨      The Boys soccer team won their first sectional game and will play their second game this Saturday, October 22.

¨      The Cross Country teams ran in the MML tournament last weekend.  The Boys team placed 6th overall.  Individual results for the boys & girls:

1.         David Miller                 6th

2.         Jake Ruckman              33rd

3.         Troy Jones                   41

4.         Mark Griffin                 51st

5.         David Triick                 61st

6.         Sean Murphy                63rd

7.         Darin Wells                  66th

1.         Laura Cain                   35th

¨      I’d like to highlight the 50/50 Crew.  Eddie Neace, Rocky Sebastion and Matt Long sell the tickets during each home football game.  Their dedication to raising funds for the student athletes is much appreciated.  If you have a few spare bucks tonight, consider purchasing a ticket or two from one of these volunteers!

¨      One last note – another Monroe resident has put our city on the map.  He attends another local school but resides in our community.  Jarryd Lentz won the Division II State Golf tournament last week.  It’s always fun to see our local student athletes reach their goals J
