Lolli on Monroe Levy: Critical Need

by Lillie Lolli

The PreK-4 elementary is a critical need for the Monroe Local School District.  Currently, plans are in process to move first grade and second grade to Monroe Primary for the 2008-2009 school year.  As enrollment continues to increase, without the passage of a bond issue, this temporary solution will not be adequate to house the students in Monroe.

With the timing of the 2 mill roll back on the current bond along with impressive interest rates and rising construction costs, this is truly the best time to bring this issue to the voters.  The bond issue is a 6.55 mill levy that will roll back in 2010 to a 4.55 mill levy.  Initially it will cost the average Monroe homeowner $300.00 per year.  After 2011, the cost is around $160.00 per year.  Please help us Continue Building the Vision.
