"We are extremely pleased to announce Ron Johnson as the Middletown High School Head Football Coach. His long-term commitment to youth and deep understanding of football will serve our program well,” said MHS Principal, Dennis Newell. “He has high expectations for all student athletes both academically and athletically,” he added.


Johnson’s resume includes:


Westlake High School near Cleveland

Head Football Coach – 4 years


Miami University – 9 years

Associate Head Football Coach - Special Teams Coordinator / Defensive Quality Control

Assistant Football Coach – Running Backs

Graduate Assistant Coach


Yellow Springs High School – 3 years

Head Football Coach / Athletic Director


Liberty Union High School

Assistant Coach Defensive Coordinator


Johnson played outside line backer at Wittenberg University and was named All Ohio Defense in 1981 and 82 and All American in 1982.


Johnson who is certified to teach business and high school English received a Master’s degree in Sports Studies, Coaching Behavior from Miami University and a Bachelor’s Degree from Wittenberg University.


Johnson and his wife, Amy have two sons, Turner age 4, and Jackson age 7 mos. 


Like all new teachers, Johnson is being granted a one year contract which is renewable every year until tenure is reached.
