Friday, November 30, 2007 12:28:55 PM - Monroe Ohio

by Brad Collins, Director of Public Works

Due to a depressurization for repairs to the water line, the City of Monroe Water Department has announced that a Boil Water Advisory has been enacted within the Middletown Service Area in Monroe listed below.  The advisory is a precaution and will be in effect for 48 hours.  The City is required to take samples from the affected area to have them tested for contaminants.  These tests take 48 hours.  Once the results prove negative for any contaminant, the City will lift the advisory.  If the contaminant is detected, the City will extend the advisory.

The affected area includes the area North of St. Rt. 63 and West of Oaklawn Drive, not including the Tall Oaks or Apple Gate subdivisions.

The subdivisions that are affected include:  Colonial Manor, Whispering Oaks, Todd's Glen & Green Ridge subdivision as well as Salzman Road.

Under a boil advisory, it is advisable to bring the water you will use for drinking, cooking, and all personal hygiene to a rolling boil for three minutes.
