Monroe Crossings Update
Monday, September 16, 2002 12:00:00 AM - Monroe Ohio
Last Friday a meeting with city officials, school officials, the developer and representatives of the concerned citizens group resulted in a compromise agreement. The current zoning was to be rezoned and the number of multi-dwelling homes would be reduced from 432 apartments and 164 duplexes to approximately 200-250 multiple dwelling homes.

"The progress coming out of the meeting on Friday seemed far better than expected." said Jay Stewart, Director Of Development Zoning Enforcement Officer for the City of Monroe. "We will continue to work with the developers and the group to produce a compromised plan that everybody is comfortable with. "

Since the current zoning is being altered, the new plan must go before the planning commission that could delay things an additional 6 months. These delays are crucial due to the overcrowding in our current school system. After our new school is built, there will be more room for the increased enrollment this development would bring.
