The view of the world  from the Monroe Firehouse recently started to look a little better thanks to donations from three area businessmen and a bright idea from Monroe Councilman Tracy Shell.

Shell, after looking for a way the community could give back the Monroe Fireman, approached local business and community leaders in an effort to solicit donations for new Television Sets for the firehouse.

After finding three local businessmen who approved of the idea: John Beagle of MainStreetMonroe.com, Stan Kappers of Mount Pleasant Retirement Village and John MacDonald, of MacDonald Insurance, there are now three new 42 inch High Definition Panasonic Television sets in place at the firehouse for the fireman to enjoy while on their 24 hour shifts.

Sheel said the inspiration for the idea came from the desire to simply show the communities appreciation for those who “go out and they put their lives on the line” for the citizens of Monroe.
