The Monroe Garden Club
The Monroe Garden Club held their monthly meet on February 17th in the James Monroe Community Room. Guest for the evening was Erin Chesar who was introduced by Phyllis Sells. Peggy Heson, club president presided over the short business meeting. Items discussed were club projects, Christmas on the Plaza, Christmas Lighting Contest and Arbor Day. Members voted to purchase a brick for the Veteran’s Memorial. TheExhibitor’s Choice winner was a tablescape, “Cabin Fever” by Anna Hale. Hostesses, Anna Hale and Becky Howard served a delicious dessert course. The program was “The Art of Gardening” a video of the gardens of Mary Higgins of Centerville.
The next meeting will be Tuesday, March 17th at 7:00 p.m. in the James Monroe Community Room, City Building. Guest speaker Dick Lawton of Bern’s Landscaping will present a program on Landscape and Water Features. The exhibit is “A Bit of the Irish” and horticulture is a houseplant you have owned and nurtured for 3 months. Members are asked to save newspaper sleeves for the Arbor Day Project.
