The Monthly meeting of the Monroe Garden Club was held on March 16, 2010 in the James Monroe Community Room of the City Building. Anna Hale, Club President presided over the business meeting.  Plans were finalized for one of the club’s projects, for Arbor Day.  The club has been providing tree seedlings to Monroe 3rd grade elementary students since the club was founded.  This year Colorado Blue Spruce tree seedlings will be presented to 185 students.   The Monroe Garden Club was founded in July 1960 by Ruth Cast and will be celebrating their Fiftieth Anniversary later in the year.  Members brought any array of silk flowers and containers and made beautiful floral arrangements to be given to residents of  Mount Pleasant Nursing Home later in the month.  The next meeting of the club will be on Tuesday, April 20th at 7:00 p.m. in the James Monroe Community Room in the Monroe City Building on Main Street.  “The Butterfly Lady” will present the program.  The exhibit will be an arrangement using water feature.  The horticulture will be a spring flower.  If you are interested in butterflies, how to attract and keep them in your garden, or any other questions on butterflies, plan on attending this meeting.  Guests are always welcome.  For more information, please contact Peggy Abernathy at 513-539-7892.
