The Monroe Garden Club held their monthly meeting on October 21st in the James Monroe Community Room. Guest speaker was William Brock, City Manager of Monroe who presented a very informative and interesting “Monroe on the Move” report. Becky Howard and Elaine Blount were hostesses, using a Halloween theme on the dessert table. Peggy Hesson, president presided at the business meeting. Jessie Hull was welcomed as a new member; Ernestino Torre attended as a guest. Christmas on the Plaza and the Christmas Lighting Contest were discussed. Plans for both will be finalized at next month’s meeting. Blue ribbons were presented to Geraldine Bontrager for her exhibit, The Frost is on the Pumpkin” and Marilyn Niebur for her horticulture of Dried Plant Material. The next meeting will be on Tuesday, November 18th at 7:00 p.m. in the Monroe Community Room. Tracy Armbruster of Armbruster Florists will present “Home for the Holidays” arrangements.
