(Source: The Monroe Local Schools Website) The community of Monroe celebrated the graduation of the Class of 2001 on Monday, June 4th at Living Word Church in Middletown. This was a historical moment as it was the first graduating class for Monroe Local Schools since they formed their own district earlier this year. 150 seniors walked the stage to receive their much anticipated diplomas that were handed out by the board of education.

Superintendent Arnol Elam stated he was "extremely proud" of the Class of 2001. He also was proud of the fact that the 2001 graduates accumulated over $800,000 in scholarships. "One of the things that will make you stand out and successful is commitment," was Mr. Elam‘s closing remarks to the Class of 2001. Rob Amodio, LMHS Principal, told students that they "have made our school one the entire community can be proud of."

Monroe‘s valedictorian, Abby Trenaman and Salutatorian Zack Hensley both spoke encouraging messages to their class. Tiffany Lipscomb closed off the ceremonies with a speech and a quote she wanted the seniors to remember, "Good job guys, go home."
