It’s already May and summer vacation will be here soon. Before we know it, we will be back in school again and your son or daughter will be a junior! We want to let you know of several prom-related projects for next year that will involve you and your student.

Prom 2007 is set for Friday, May 4th at Lake Lyndsay Lodge in Hamilton. This event is completely planned and carried out by members of the junior class along with the junior class advisors.   Please encourage your son or daughter to attend the Thursday weekly prom planning meetings that will be held in Rm E201. It’s a great way to get involved and make new friends!

Juniors take part in three fundraising events during next school year. We sell fruit and wreaths in late October–early November. In late January, we sell pies. In March we sponsor a prom fashion show. These three events bring in much-needed funds to help defray the costs of prom. Your student will be receiving information in the fall regarding participation in these important events.

Juniors need your help for the Post-Prom party. The traditional post-prom party is not a school-sponsored event. Junior parents are in charge of planning and carrying out the post-prom event. While we as advisors will be happy to act as a liaison between you, the parents, and the school, we do not take part in planning or carrying out this event.

***We would like to invite all sophomore parents to a short meeting on Thursday, May 25 at 7:00 pm in the Main St. conference room. The purpose of this meeting will be to help you begin your work planning next year’s post-prom party. The post-prom party is planned and carried out by you, the junior parents. This year’s chairman, Mrs. Debbie Cover, will attend to share ideas from this year’s event.

We look forward to seeing you on May 25th at 7:00 pm in the Main St. conference room.

Next year will be a great year to be a junior at Monroe!
