Monroe Swimmers score at Southwest Ohio Officials Classic

The Southwest Ohio Officials Classic Swim Meet took place on January 18 & 19. This swim meet is the largest High School swim meet in the nation! It consists of approximately 2700 swimmers from nearly 100 High Schools in Southwest Ohio. Preliminaries are run simultaneously at seven locations and the top 16 swimmers in each event convene for Finals at St. Xavier High School each evening.



Lemon-Monroe High School participated in the event at Countryside YMCA. Ben Thompson swam in the 50 Freestyle, 50 Breaststroke and 200 IM. Ben qualified for finals in the 50 Breaststroke and placed 9th overall with a 31.09! The Girls team, made up of Megan Kennedy (9), Rebekah Bond (11), Venessa Feliciano (11) and Krista Wray (12), also had a very strong showing. The girls’ team participated in the 50 yard Freestyle, 50 yard Breatstroke, 50 yard Butterfly, 100 yard Breaststroke, 500 yard Freestyle, 1650 yard Freestyle and the 100 and 200 yard Butterfly. Krista Wray qualified for finals in the 1650 yard freestyle (18:20.88) and the 200 Butterfly (2:13.45) and placed 10th and 5th respectively. Up next for the swimmers is the League Championship Meet and the Sectional Swim Meet! Good luck swimmers!
