Soccer Inks Seven for 2006
MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Morehead State head soccer coach Erin Aubry has announced that seven talented players have signed national letters of intent to join the Eagle soccer program for 2006. Three players hail from Ohio, two are from Kentucky, while one each is from Pennsylvania and Missouri.
The newest members of the MSU soccer program are Lauren Seebach (St. Louis, Mo./Notre Dame HS), Lindsay Stefanini (Aliquippa, Pa./Hopewell HS), Abigail Doyle (Bay Village, Ohio/Bay HS), Bridget Gomillion (Cleveland, Ohio/Mayfield HS), Bethany Davidson (Monroe, Ohio/Monroe HS), Lauren Melzer (Florence, Ky./Boone County HS), and Lindsey Bishop (Louisville, Ky./Manual HS).
Davidson was a four-year starter for Monroe (Ohio) High School and was the team’s Defensive Player of the Year all four years. She was named First-Team All-League every year and was named First-Team All-District three times. Davidson was also the 2005 League Player of the Year and was named All-State in 2005 as well. She led Monroe to the 2004 and 2005 Mid-Miami League titles. She also played for the Lakota Premier club program, which advanced to the 2005 Ohio State Cup final four.
“Bethany is a gifted athlete with a tremendous work rate. She has gone largely unnoticed in the South Ohio area, and she will end up surprising a lot of people with her ability,” said Aubry. “She is an extremely tough and smart defender that will certainly contribute to our success in the back.”
The Morehead State soccer team finished 6-11-2 in 2005.
