Performing Arts Academy to Hold Auditions for Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre

Middletown Performing Arts Academy Tune in to Murder Auditions

Auditions will be held, Monday, August 6, 7:00 PM and will include a cold reading from the script. Those auditioning for one of the Jingle Belles Singers should be prepared to sing a song of their choice.  “Tune In To Murder”, an audience-participation Murder Mystery-Comedy, will be presented October 5 & 6 at the Performing Arts Academy’s Ben Bender Theatre, 4400 Lewis Street, Middletown.

 

THE SETTING:

A 1940’s radio station, WPAA, during World War II (1942-1945). An audience has been invited to see a live recording of the popular radio drama, Escape the Midnight Whistler.

 

AUDITIONING FOR THE FOLLOWING CHARACTERS: 5 Males/5 Females

Walter Scott--Manager/Producer of the radio station WPAA--down to business

Mildred Rogers--Jingle Writer--quiet--musically talented--lost her husband in the war

George Daily--Foley Artist aka the guy who does all the sound effects for the show--stutters around women and when nervous or pressured by others, but smooth on air--protective of his sound equipment and a little OCD in it’s layout

Fred Stone--Manager/Producer of another radio station, WLAC--friends with Walter

Judy Harland--Jingle Belles Singer--outgoing and sweet

Betty Leigh--Jingle Belles Singer--ditzy and accident prone

Dorothy Gardner--Jingle Belles Singer--brilliant but socially awkward

Humphrey Gobart--Leading Man--Plays Johnny Aimes--dating Mary--kind and down to earth--smooth

Mary Crawford--Leading Lady--Plays Helen Parker--on the show she’s sweet and demure, in real life she’s blunt and standoffish

Stanley Arnez--Narrator/Announcer for show--practical joker and friendly
