Pipline Explodes Killing Waynesville Woman
Monday, September 19, 2005 3:03:23 PM - Monroe Ohio
A propane pipeline at the Texas Eastern Products Pipeline Company in Monroe exploded just before 11pm Sunday night killing 1 person, Kolett Meyer, 52, of Waynesboro Way in Waynesville.

The pipeline through Middletown runs more than 9,000 miles from southern Texas to the Northeast and is currently burning at the time of this report. Monroe firefighters are allowing 20,000 gallons of propane to burn off rather than putting firefighters in harms way. This is considered a safer alternative since the fire is contained and acting predictably.

The pipline is owned by Teppco (NYSE:TPP). Teppco said no one else was harmed in the incident, and it is in communication with the family of the deceased.

The ATF, Ohio Fire Marshall and Occupational Safety and Health Administration arrived at the company Monday to investigate.
