The Monroe Garden Club held their April meeting on Tuesday
at the James Monroe Community Room.
Roger Conner of Flowers by Roger presented the program,”Arrangements Using Water as a Focus”. Unique arrangements of rosemary in tall vase, yellow rose nosegay, white calla lilies in a globe vase, red roses, Stargazer lilies in a vase filled with orange slices, greenery of eucalyptus, bamboo leaves, forsythia branches, yellow lilies & yellow orchids in a vase filled with lemon slices were featured.
Peggy Hesson, president presided over the business meeting. Winners of the flower arrangements, which were donated by Roger, were Betty Westercamp, Peggy Hesson, Jamina Szopinska and Madonna Krol. Pauline Belcher won a blue ribbon for horticulture, Pussy Willow with Pink Catkins. The Fall Card Party is scheduled for Thursday, October 12, 2006. Additional information will be forthcoming. Warren Co. Career Center, Lebanon is sponsoring a Garden Forum on Sat., April 29, 2006 from 9am-3pm. The OAGC Region 4 Spring Meeting is scheduled for April 28th at the Cincinnati Nature Center in Milford. A Certificate of Appreciation was presented to Edward Schul, 509 Britton Lane for his outstanding Spring Display. Arbor Day tree seedlings will be presented to the Monroe 3rd grade students on Friday, April 28th.
Elaine Blount and Jamina Szpoinska were welcomed as new garden club members. The next meeting will be on Tuesday, May 16th, “Cacti & Other Prickly Suspects”, by Caroline Croswell, Fleur Garden Club, Oxford. Guest is always welcome.
