Trenton-Monroe tactical unit
Monday, February 18, 2002 12:00:00 AM - Monroe Ohio
Monroe and Trenton are in the process of creating a combined tactical unit for both cities. Both of the growing communities felt the need for a tactical unit, but neither could sustain one on their own, due to finicial and manpower issues. Equipment needed for the tactical unit is coming from a military surplus program. Whenever a situation arises in which the tactical unit is neede, Chief Howard(Monroe) and Chief Hale(Trenton) will both be in charge at the scene. Both must approve the use of the unit before it is deployed. The unit has two officers, one from each department, that work to organize the unit. The two officers are David Chasteen(Monroe) and Mike Gillian(Trenton). The tactical unit also has one paramedic, Monroe Fire Captian John Centers who trains with the team, and will be with them at the scene to provide medical attention to officers or others if needed.
