Rush Limbaugh has been named Radio Personality of the Decade by Mediaweek, a leading industry magazine and Web site.

In the December issue’s Best of the Decade feature, Mediaweek observed:

“No radio host or personality comes close to Rush Limbaugh in size of audience or volume of political discourse. The man manages to stay in the headlines no matter who’s in the White House or who’s gunning for him.”

Franken is an expert in liberal discourse. Take his book for example:

"Rush Limbaugh is a big fat idiot." by Al Franken

I say is that Rush is a big voice for conservatives. What say the liberals? Name calling is what they resort to when they get flustered and don't have a good comeback.

Radio Performer, not just performer of the decade.
Who is bigger on terrestrial radio? No one.

As for Howard, his days are numbered on Satelite and he can never go back to terrestrial radio.

Rush isn't even the number 1 show in most of his markets....how is he the performer of the decade?

The two tapes I remember offhand were Butt Bongo Fiesta and New Years Eve Pageant. Two of the most offensive items in the history of man really and would never sell. I would like to see what would happen if Daniel Carver posted on this forum, oh my would that be a flaming topic within minutes. I remember one opening scene where Howard walks into the bathroom at the same time as John Wayne Bobbitt (the real dude). The camera is behind them, JWB shoots out like a water hose shower setting mocking the re-attachment. Potty humor and just wrong but I did not hit stop or eject. It went downhill from there.

The Howard Stern show is the most successful radio show of all time, and Howard's accomplishments in media dwarf those of Rush. I'll keep waiting for someone to back half a billion up for Rush and his show...it's probably going to happen any day now right? LOL

Not that I care anything about this topic, but I would say Rush did get a contract or his services...not half a billion, but it was 400 million, which I would consider just as good...

well in my book 500 million is more than 400 million. Not to mention Howard's TV deal that isn't even part of that. So sure...400 million is a nice contract...it's just a lot less than Howard's.

If Rush were the answer to saving sirius 5 years ago then Scott Greenstein would have payed Rush to have his audience come over...but they didn't...they went after the biggest name in radio and it saved their company. These are facts.

"And don't forget, Sherrod Brown is black. There's a racial component here, too. And now, the newspaper that I'm reading all this from is The New York Times, and they, of course, don't mention that." --Rush Limbaugh on the 2006 Ohio Senate primary race involving then-Rep. Sherrod Brown (D-OH), who is white

If Rush is the answer to Radio personality of the Decade..... I wonder what the question was?
Houndog Posted - 12/22/2009 : 7:21:42 PM
Rush is not a racist. He used to frequently send out his illegal immigrant house maids to score his Oxy. He's kinda like Elvis, just trying to consume as much dope as possible to keep it off the streets. And it worked wonders for his waist line.
Proof positive he knows the value of both heavy illicit drug use AND the economic boon that cheap illegal labor offers our nation.
cmsquare Posted - 12/22/2009 : 5:53:12 PM
right because we all know....that if you have black friends...you can't have racist thoughts. We all know that having a black friend, gives you a pass in that department.

I don't believe in Gods....nor do I follow what anyone tells me, nor do I read the huffington post.

You're 0-3....try again.

Whats the basis?

He has give you the basis many many times.

Did you really just type that?

Are you the guy who says racist stuff and then says "but I have black friends."

Too funny..can't believe you actually wrote this. I wonder how his black friend felt when he stated that black people weren't smart enough to play QB in the NFL.

Just keep reading the huffpo and believe what your liberal gods tell you.

Anyone who knows anything about Rush Limbaugh at all knows he’s not a racist. Limbaugh’s call screener, Bo Snerdley, is a black man. In fact, Snerdley is so black that last year he was certified “Black Enough to Criticize Barack Obama,” or the “Official Obama Criticizer” for short.

Economist Walter Williams (a black man) often fills in for Rush when Rush is traveling. Another black friend of Limbaugh’s, economist Thomas Sowell, has even filled in a time or two.

Rush’s friend and former football player Rev. Ken “The Hutch” Hutcherson (who is black) frequently calls in to the show for some sports-related banter.

Rush is a friend of U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas (who is black). Rush was married to his former wife Marta at Justice Thomas’ home where Justice Thomas officiated the wedding. (But then, according to the Left, Thomas doesn’t count; he’s just an Uncle Tom…one who faced his own media lynching during his confirmation hearings)

You know, for a guy with so many black friends and associates, he sure sounds like an odd candidate for being a racist to me.

So what’s the basis–however thin–for these accusations of racism? He doesn’t worship at the altar of political correctness and affirmative action.

Those are worth some money if in decent shape you know.

Which ones do you have?

Rome is the man....best sports talk hands down and one of the best interviews period.
Upper90 Posted - 12/22/2009 : 4:55:09 PM
Howard can be a very entertaining broadcaster when he wants to. The problem is you have so much airtime to fill. He never wanted to be overly political as you can find tons of stations with political drivel on the radio. He just does something different, a niche, and sometimes goes way over the line. I don't listen to it anymore, have not for years really. He was in his prime years ago, once he it E! tv he started to go more and more over the top. Some of his old PPV specials are legendary - I have VHS tapes somewhere. Talk about crossing the line, you would not believe some of the stuff they did on the PPV's. It is most certainly not for everyone and probably not for kids by any stretch. But saying it has no value is crazy because millions of people over the years got a laugh on their way to WORK, not the food stamp line.

As for Rush, I just can't listen to it and I am mostly conservative but with some more liberal beliefs on some issues and life in general. I also can't listen to Mike M or Willie on WLW anymore. I used to like talk radio but too much negative for me, same thing for talking heads on cable TV in the evenings. I have totally switched to all sports talk radio during the day, 1530. Dan Patrick's show is very well done each day as is Jim Rome's. I find myself laughing out loud quite often during both, probably looking pretty silly in my truck. Rome is also not for everyone, it is love it or hate it, but I really enjoy it. Especially when he starts talking about "softball guy" or "softball girlfriend" or "gym guy". He had me a few weeks ago trying to chase down people smoking old school pipes in vehicles and snap a picture. I saw three within days and could not get a decent shot off with the cell camera. I use magazines, books and the internet to try and piece together world events and politics, too much crap to sift through on the tube.

Stern's show has no value to society, except it keeps those who are unemployed and living the life of leisure on others backs, entertained. His audience consists of dregs and extreme left liberals. With a few occasional curious people.

I don't need you to give me a run down of the Howard Stern Show. You might want to go back and check the ratings books for all the years he crushed morning drive radio though. Where were all those people headed if not to work? He can't be very good...they pay people 500 Million all the time for sucking at their jobs. LOL

Fact is he OWNED the most coveted spots by advertisers in those ratings books for YEARS....last time I checked advertisers didn't covet those without money to spend.

It may not be your taste...I can understand that. But you are totally wrong about what makes up that show and who listens to it.

I guess pill popping, prostitution supporters are more along your lines of someone who should be honored. We all have our tastes.

You missed about 85% of that rundown too...better go back and read.

Where is the value? Maybe you should ask the girls who went on there by their own free will. You are a supporter of freedom right? No one forced anyone to go on any show, or join any contest.

John Beagle Posted - 12/22/2009 : 4:23:56 PM
That is a misquote on Limbaugh.

I have heard Sterns show. Mostly concentrated on Breast Enlargement surgery. He was having girls in who wanted the procedure. He would require that they show them off and he would decide who would get the surgery. All the while exploiting the young women (sometimes not so young).

Stern's show has no value to society, except it keeps those who are unemployed and living the life of leisure on others backs, entertained. His audience consists of dregs and extreme left liberals. With a few occasional curious people.

Read his website if you don't believe me:
http://www.howardstern.com/rundown.hs?d=1197435600

The latest post on the show is titled:
THE HOTTEST WITH THE SMALLEST

Smallest what? Where is the value? For shame. lol

The nick name is "King of all Media". That's because he managed to be quite the success not just on radio, but also in TV, Books and Movies. Howard has more talent in his pinkie than Rush has in his whole body.

Calling him "Porn Man" just goes to prove you haven't heard the show and know nothing about Howard except what other people say about him. Howard's never sold Porn a day in his life.

The Howard Stern show is the most successful radio show of all time, and Howard's accomplishments in media dwarf those of Rush. I'll keep waiting for someone to back half a billion up for Rush and his show...it's probably going to happen any day now right? LOL

Has Rush managed to lay off the Dominican prostitute and Oxy Contin? Howard may let real people tell their stories on his show, but he was never linked to drugs or international prostitutes like Rush.

Limbaugh is a hypocrit....point blank. He's a flat out jerk. He's a racist, and he thinks he's better you and everyone else.

Why doesn't Rush practice what he preaches?

I think we're agreeing here. I didn't say "all" - just some.
Same is true for term "groupies." Some are absolutely, fantastically, and clinically psychotic and some are just really really great people.

Dayton Tea Party Protester

Many just plain are fed up. Come on, admit it, when is the last time you saw your grandpa protest anything? The answer for most is never. What is happening is different. It is the beginning of a revolution. One that says people have to be responsible for their actions. One that says it is better to be honest and honorable than dishonest and disrespectful.

Where are the roads of good intentions paved?.......

I shall not say today, so near our holy Christmas day of celebration.

God Bless and Merry Christmas to those who respect Christ and God.

Everyone else, Happy Holidays.

Now, now, now - You know I wasn't referring to them. I'm referring to those politically-minded folks that seemingly posess an IQ less than a decent college basketball score whom get all whipped up in a frenzy anytime Limbaugh, Scarborough, Goebbles, or Carville get anywhere NEAR a podium.

You know...Those fine folks following blindly and make decisions based on rumors, accusations, untruths, and ulterior motives that are obviously too lazy to do their own research of the facts.

The sheeple are the ones who follow blindly.

The Tea Party People are transformed, they no longer follow blindly, instead have taken a new course. Thanks to a strong conservative movement in our country, many 'sheeple' finally are standing up to tyrany with Tea Parties and protests.

Check out the video I took. You see ordinary men and women who never got involved in politics in their lives, but now are uniting in one voice. Grandpas and grandmas, bosses and employees who all are going to be hurt with what is going on in Washington.

Take a look at these real people. They are there because they care. And so do I and so should you.

If you care about liberty and freedom, you would add your voice to our movement and get off the liberal 'sheeple' talking points.

Funny I always here this whole racist remark crap, but come to find out his best friend is black. Plus if you listen to what he says the comments are not really racist, but we all know how the lefties spin anything the right says. Biden and his racist comments are 3x as bad but the democrats made him VP. Go figure.
John Beagle Posted - 12/22/2009 : 11:36:04 AM
That's true. Rush's rating are always higher when a DEM occupies the white house. It also makes for better radio.

The outrage is so fun!
cmsquare Posted - 12/22/2009 : 10:59:32 AM
Oh it works fine for him when he has a Dem to bash.....but he wasn't so relevant when Bush was in Office, that's all I'm saying. He went to MNF and put his foot in his mouth showing his true colors.

If that's a man that deserves to be honored then by all means honor him.

he manages to stay in the headlines by making racially insensitive remarks...and that's putting it lightly.

Not sure that's something I would praise, but hey...who am I to judge Mediaweek.
