In a case of "mistaken identity"? a female customer at Gold Star Monroe during lunch today was accused of causing a scene last week in which the police had to be called and was threatened by the managers to never set foot in that Gold Star again just because she had blonde hair and was wearing nurse's scrubs. The police were called and the manager's mistake was cleared up but not before both managers had harrassed and threatened and basically called the customer a liar repeatedly for some time outside the restaurant AFTER the customer had already paid for and eaten lunch inside the restaurant. A sincere apology was needed but none received. Manager/owner needs a lesson in how to treat customers. Customers lost...

My Mother used to make lasagna using Camp Washington Chili W/Bean. My father used to dunk White Castle's in the chili. I kinda miss the old building but the new one is nice.

Man, you guys are making me hungry. I swear I'd eat this keyboard right now if it was piled high with the shredded cheddar.

In all honesty, it all completely pales in comparison to Price Hill Chili and the originator of it all, Empress Chili.

Camp Washington is great because of the breakfast and double deckers in addition to the typical Cincy chili stuff. Never had Blue Ash, sounds like I need to go.

Blue Ash is very similar to Camp Washington in terms of menu.

I think there is a location in Mason now as well but I go to the one in Blue Ash when I go.

I won't pretend to be enough of a connoisseur to pick Blue Ash or Camp Washington and I certainly never has the chance to taste the chili in the old camp washington location.

I agree the breakfast makes it great, Chili omelet is pretty yummy with onion and cheese is pretty yummy.

Camp Washington Chili is excellent but it's still nowhere near as good as it was back before the old building burnt to the ground. I think there was just something about their 80 year old kettle that made it fantastic. I worked at Hilvers' Catering in Camp Washington as a wee lad and we'd go there at least 5 times per week. Loved it and it's a great memory from my youth. Oddly, I never ate at U.S. Chili that is right next door to CW Chili.

That being said, I stop there after every gig I have Downtown/West Side/Northern Kentucky.

[br]Is Skyline really considered snobbery over Gold Star?

What does one get called if they prefer Blue Ash Chili or Camp Washigton?

They have a half decent cheese steak; that's all I know about.

No, I don't consider it snobbery... I consider it better. Oh, wait...

No, it's just a running joke among us. I've never had the other two you mentioned, but have heard good things about Blue Ash Chili.

I prefer Skyline but get Gold Star just to mix it up. I have not had any bad experiences in the Monroe joint but in general I have found the service level at Skylines to be light years better. Especially at the Liberty and 747 Skyline which are owned by the same family. Is the Monroe place still ran by the mother daughter combo? They always seem to be on top of things but maybe things have changed.

It's only considered chili in Cincinnati

I don't eat Gold Star because I'm a "Skyline snob" (to hear my fiance tell it haha), so I can't speak to their customer service but that's not a good way to keep people coming back. We go to the Liberty Township Skyline probably two to three times a month, so I'd love to have one here.
Dannyboy Posted - 10/08/2012 : 7:31:35 PM
Why don't we have a Skyline? By the time I get back from Middletown or Rt. 4 or Cin Day, the cheese has melted on my coneys. :(

Same exact thing happened to me - except I actually parked and went in. They yelled at me in front of everyone inside saying I messed it up. I have not gone back for years!!
