What does it say about a community when a tax levy passes by over 70% of the voters?

I think it says that the voters did their homework and the schools got out the message. Monroe Local School Substitute Levy is Not a Tax Increase

The substitute levy was placed on the November ballot during a July School Board Meeting. Today, we gave the schools a mandate to spend our money wisely. And to make sure they do, we have placed 3 new brilliant members of our community on the school board.

Congratulations to everyone who worked so hard getting the word out. I would especially like to recognize:

Arnie Earls for her effort: MOMS SUPPORTING MONROE.

Brett Giudo who started up a Monroe School Levy Committee in 2008 and was involved until we actually passed a levy.

Dr. Lolli for all the neighborhood meetings, Meet with Dr. Lolli

Monroe is lucky to have someone like Amie Earls. I have known her since she was a little girl, and she is the kindest and most determined young woman, not to mention a great mother. Amie, keep working for our children!

I must say, I was very surprised at the margin of Victory, it makes me feel good about the community. The margin of victory was impressive.

Great job to everyone who helped get the word out and help this pass, it really was a no brainer but sometimes even getting a no brainer to pass can be tough.

Great job to all of those that were involved.

I am really glad it passed. We came from a school district that hadn't passed a levy in over 15 yrs.
The way this levy was set up and the information given was very well done in my opinion!!

It really makes me happy about our decision to move here

The levy will raise $3.5 Million and will replace the three levies that expire in the next 2 years.

According to Monroe Superintendent Elizabeth Lolli, "The levy is not adding money to our budget, it is maintaining the current budget. The good thing about a substitute levy is the opportunity to capture new money from new businesses or new homeowners immediately. This will help any district that has a growing population. I am very pleased that a substitute levy has been created by the legislature. Remember, no new taxes are charged to current business or home owners with a substitute levy!!!"
