I don't know how many of you knew Paul Buker, but he was a great person and a great Monroe citizen.

I got to know Paul through the Lions Club where he was a member for 60 years!!! His daughter Alice and son-in-law Doug ran the Country Flower Store in Monroe.

I have included his obituary. He did many things for Monroe and I just wanted to recognize his passing.

IN MEMORY OF PAUL BUKER

BUKER, Paul age 92, passed away Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at his residence at Mt. Pleasant Retirement Village, Monroe, Ohio. He was born October 8, 1917 in Killbuck, Ohio. Paul retired from Armco Steel, Metal Products Division. He served as Building Inspector for Warren County Building and Zoning for ten years. Mr. Buker was an elected member of the Monroe Village Council, a member of the Monroe Lions Club for over 60 years, served as Executive Director of the Monroe Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Lebanon Kiwanis Club, served on the Board of Directors for Mt. Pleasant Retirement Village and attended the Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church. He loved to travel the world and enjoyed sailing his boat. Preceding him in death were his parents, Emerson and Madonna (Severns) Buker; his wife Betty, in 1985; and two sisters Eleanor Horn and Virginia Uhl. He is survived by three children, Mary Brown, husband Marvin, Alice Ward, husband Doug, and Mike Buker, wife Louise; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Friday, June 25, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Herr-Riggs Funeral Home, 210 S. Main St., Middletown.
