Linda D. Trumpore, 80, of Monroe, died Sunday, October 10, 2010, at Atrium Medical Center, Middletown, Ohio. She was born in Meadville, Pennsylvania on September 19, 1930 to parents Lansing A. and Wilda (Glenn) Dowdell. Known as “Linda Lou” in her hometown, she attended Allegheny College, where she met her future husband and earned a Bachelor of Education degree.
She taught fourth grade in Shaker Heights, Ohio for three years. Linda and her husband, George E. Trumpore Sr., lived in Saugerties, New York for the next forty years, where she actively served in the Methodist Church, the Boy Scouts, as a Girl Scout leader, and in many capacities with the Wiltwyck and Saugerties Chapters of the Daughters of the American Revolution and Children of the American Revolution. Since moving to Monroe in the year 2000, she and her husband were members of the Montgomery and Warren County Genealogical Societies and Linda was an Associate Member of the Colonel Jonathan Bayard Smith Chapter, DAR.
Mrs. Trumpore is survived by her son, George Emmett Trumpore Jr.; daughters, Virginia Trumpore and Bonnie (Dennis) Whitten; brother, Lanse Dowdell and grandsons, Brian, Patrick, and Evan Whitten.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Visitation will be Friday from 6:00 – 8:00 PM and Saturday from 9:00 – 10:00 AM at the Monroe United Methodist Church. Funeral service will be held Saturday, October 16, 2010 at 10:00 AM at the church with Reverend Bradford G. Olson and Reverend Paul Trumpore officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date in Scott Cemetery, Waterton, PA.
Memorial donations may be made to the Monroe United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 206 East Ave., Monroe, Ohio 45050 to be used toward the purchase of new handicap accessible entrances.
