Don't need a committee to tell you to lower the income tax. Stop wasting tax payer money on personal agendas.

Perhaps council should bring this up at tonights meeting. Maybe some people in the audience who care enough to go to council meetings will also be interested in planning for the future Monroe.

Would you like to throw your exceptionally disagreeable hat into the ring and sign up to join the committee?

Why so I can be lied to by city council, and have to put up with a bunch of ninnies whining about stuff that will never come to be. No thanks, I will just ride my time out and leave this god forsaken crap hole when the chance comes. If not I will just continue to trash talk the liers behind the wood crap holder.

I don't take you for any of those, just a guy who likes to drink an adult beverage every now and then. I don't see a problem with it personally.

Guys such as myself, bobpreston, and cmsquare like to participate in fourms such as these. We offer lots of opinions, thoughts, anger, laughter, vitriol, absurdity, et al. Then when then the rubber hits the road we back off. Just shy of ever effecting any real attempt at an effort to put forth any of the ideas that we so strongly force on the unsuspecting people of Monroe.
Honestly, I have begun to wonder if any of us are 'real' people. Or are we just amalgamations of personas on a small town message board?

I don't like the political process at all. It is rife with people who talk out of both side of their mouth.

I would never waste my time with such people pretending that anything will be accomplished. Nor do I believe the few good people that end up working in politics can off set the rest of the scumbags that make up the other 98%.

I have opinions, but I also have a brain. People ******ing about taxes going up don't live in the real world. The cost of things don't go down, they go up. That's called life. Another day, another dollar.

I do wonder how many of our small business owners that claimed they would be making all sorts of new hires once their tax breaks were extended actually hired people. I recall a few job postings that were up and then suddenly disappeared. People love to talk out of both side of their mouth, this much I know as fact.

Oh I didn't mean here. I meant in real life with politics.

Most of the time my posts on here are made during down periods during the day when I am trying to kill some time. If by all talk you mean I'll post but won't go do anything in real life then sure I would agree with that. But it's more because of my distastes for politics and politicians that I would never get involved. I don't consider the debate and trading of opinions here to be the same thing.

If you're not real, with whom did I share all those frosty adult beverages?

MONROE — The City of Monroe needs its residents to review its charter — which provides rules and guidelines for the government.
The city is seeking volunteers to serve on its Charter Review Commission to assist in an update. Under the city’s charter, council must appoint, by a majority vote of its members, a charter review commission no later than March 31, 2011.
The commission must consists of a minimum of five electors from the city, according to the charter.
The goal of the group is to review the charter — that is updated normally every 10 years — and recommend to council alterations, revisions and amendments, if any.
Mayor Robert Routson said council looks at the recommendations, but is not required to make changes according to the commission’s suggestions.
“It doesn’t hurt to have certain things looked at. Me personally, I think the charter is in pretty good shape. I don’t think there’s a whole lot of changes that really need to be made,” he said.
Officials put out the call for volunteers in January, posted it on the city’s Facebook page and in an e-mail alert on its website. So far, it has secured only two electors — former Monroe mayor Mike Morris and former Monroe Schools board member Tom Birdwell.
