Prayers for his family, friends and congregation during this difficult time

http://www.middletownjournal.com/news/middletown-news/solid-rock-founder-lawrence-bishop-has-died-1262419.html

MONROE — The Rev. Lawrence Bishop, the preacher who founded Solid Rock Church, the area’s largest church, has died, according to church reports.

Bishop, 69, died at 11:49 p.m. Friday, according to a notice on the church web site.

“Thank you for your prayer and support for the Bishop family and the congregation of Solid Rock,” the notice said.

Bishop was taken Thursday to Atrium Medical Center in Middletown after being found, breathing and unconscious, sitting in his bedroom by his wife Darlene. Bishop was transferred to Christ Hospital in Cincinnati. He remained unresponsive Friday night in the intensive care unit, according to the hospital.

Dora Bronston, president of the Middletown Area NAACP, described Bishop as the “spiritual leader of our home.” Since news of Bishop’s health spread, Bronston said, it brought church members closer because they were “praying for the same thing.”

Sad that he passed away, but, I'm not to keen on SRC and its "cult" status among people.

I didn't know what to make of the man. He was allot of things. Probably if you had to look at him as a successful man. And once he found God, a very, very successful man.

But also a good man. A man who cared for and raised prized animals, who could sing and preach to lift the spirits of thousands of people in some sort of pain, people who desperately needed their spirits lifted. He did that well.

Here is his obituary from SolidRockChurch.ogr

Interesting that Darlene was prepared for Lawrence's death.

“He has prepared me for this day,” she said.
A few days before his passing, while sitting in bed, Bishop asked his wife for corn bread and milk. She fixed it.
He asked for popcorn. She popped it.
He wanted ice cream with chocolate topping. She scooped it. This story brought a rare laugh from the congregation.
Then she dropped this bomb: That’s when she realized he was “a sick man,” and he told her death was near.
