The Monroe BMX track is now open and holding gate practices as well as races. Our first race will be Sunday, Aug. 16. Registration from 4-5 racing soon after. NBL memberships are required and can be applied for at the track. Memberships are $50 and are good for a full year of racing at this track as well as any other NBL sanctioned track or $30 trial membership. Racing will be $10 for trophy and $7 for points only. If you are interested in racing and have any questions please check out our forum and our contacts on www.monroebmx.com or come out to the track for yourself and we'll answer anything that you may have questions about. Don't forget to wear full faced helmet and long pants, long sleeved shirt or short pants/shirts with knee/shin and elbow guards.

Check the website for upcoming gate practices.

Went out today to check out the track and it was great to see some riders finally getting a chance to enjoy the new park! I was at the Council meeting the other night when Brad Collins introduced the new Directors of the BMX association and today I had a chance to personally meet Eric, the track director. This group is exactly what Monroe needs to get this thing going and make it a real asset (with revenue potential!) in our community. I like that these people are thinking ahead to what it can become and I wish them the best of luck!

Thank you so much for coming out to the track tonight! I'm glad to see so many of the community members who came out with curiousity as to if this was "really" going to happen. I would love to use some of these pictures on our website, www.monroebmx.com , if you don't mind.

Thanks again for coming out and spreading the word about our GREAT group!

This is a great thing. Love to see it being used.
Although I know city officials no longer post on here...Does anyone know how much the city of Monroe spent on making this a reality? And, if so, how long it will take the city to recoup its investment?
Thanks.

I stopped out yesterday with the family hoping to see some racing. Although there was no racing taking place, we talked to Eric and he seems to be a nice guy. He gave myself and son a lot of information about the track and plans. Racing every Sunday and practices on Wednesday and Friday's. Said the track is open everyday and anyone is allowed to use at anytime. Only suggested not being on it after a rain. And for the record, the boy on the black bike in the last two photos can flat out fly on his bike!

The sign says "closed" but the track is actually now open. I have no idea on the cost but it's part of a larger "park" package.

My pictures don't do justice to these boys. It was hot and I was in the truck using 24x zoom so I got some camera shake for sure! Feel free to use any photos you like. Next time, I'll try and do better!

Not to be nosy, but it would definitely be a good idea to get permission from the parents before using their photos on a website.

No problem, but I did ask Eric's permission yesterday to post these on the Voice on behalf of the BMX group. He gave me the boys names but of course, I forgot!

I want to THANK all that came out to the BMX track at Monroe Crossings yesterday. I was so glad to see the community coming out to take a look, get information and have a good time. This sport is awesome to get involved in and it is truely a family orientated sport. I want to thank the person who came out to take pictures, you did an awesome job with them. So, thanks again:) Everyone is welcome at anytime at the track and I hope to see more there at practice/race days. Awesome job to those who got this track finally going.

Sorry, I should have specified - I actually was talking to bmxmom, but it is a good idea to get parents' permission before posting minors photos on any website.

I don't think it is actually against the law or anything, but I just personally think it's good to have parents aware and in agreement with photos of their children being on websites. JMO

While that is a good idea, none of the children's faces are identifiable in the photo. I think its ok to post photos of children as long as they are not identifiable. If they are identifiable, then it is a good idea to obtain permission or obscure faces.

What a friendly group!!
Took my daughter out there yesterday and we had a great time, and met these great people.

We left and she told me "Daddy, we have to get the training wheels off my bike so I can ride the hills, and beat those BOYS!"

The track is coming along very well, the pictures are great, the community has been amazing, and we really believe that if you build and MAINTAIN it, they WILL come. BMX is very new to many of you, but with just a little help; be it physical hands-on or with financial donations, this is very likely to be HUGE for Monroe!!! Help us-Help you!! For more information please visit www.monroebmx.com.
