Does anyone know when Monroe is having their annual garage sale this year? I think the last couple years it was towards the end of April, if so, I better get my butt in gear..it will be here before we know it

As a rule it has been the first weekend in May, that conflicts with the Knothole Baseball opening day parade etc. Does anyone have a preference?

Hmm...What about the next week? Is there anything going on that week? I'd hate to miss the parade to sell my junk...err...uhh...great merchandise. ;)

I am pretty sure last year we did it the last weekend in April (or it was the year before) We may have to do that again if weekends in May are not working out?

I usually only do it Saturday anyway (in regards to Mothers day) The Sunday sale never did well for me...How about the rest of you. I opened one year on a Friday and Saturday, and Friday did REALLY well..I was surprised!

Does anyone know the dates of the garage sells yet? April would be better -- would hate to miss the opening day baseball parade!!!

The dates are not official yet, but will be set at Tuesday's council meeting. This is on our agenda:

CONSIDERATION OF MOTION SETTING THE DATE FOR THE COMMUNITY WIDE GARAGE SALE (May 20 and 21)

CONSIDERATION OF MOTION SETTING THE DATE FOR THE LARGE ITEM TRASH PICKUP (June 3)

These are the recommended dates from the city manager. They could change though so don't write them on your calendars yet. We've had problems in the past trying to work around Baseball Opening Day and Mother's Day. Hopefully, this will work for everyone.

Does anyone know when Trenton is having theirs because I don't know if it is a good idea to have it same weekend and it is usually in May.

I just looked it up. Same weekend. UGH. Do you think it is a problem though, or would we get a bigger crowd (going to both)?

I personally think that it is not a good idea to have it the same weekend as Trenton. In the past when we have had it on the same weekend the results were not as good.

I don't think it's a good idea to have it the same weekend either because most people make it an all-day event. We lived in Trenton about 17 years ago and there are some serious "garage-salers" that go to Trenton for their garage sales.

I'm sorry, but I am relatively new to Monroe. What is the annual garage sale? Is it where everyone can have a garage sale in one location, or can you set up in your own garage?

Actually it is where anyone that wants to participate can have a Garage/ Yard sale on their property all on the same weekend……

Usually the city will hand out maps at the City Building of houses that are participating, in the past many of us have been very successful, due to the fact that all most everyone in the Cincinnati area knows about the sale and people come from all over of the area to shop.

What about the 27th-28th?
When I have had them in the past- I usually do better on Fridays- not much business at all on Sundays.
