Welcome to Monroe, Dave.

Nature is ever at work building and pulling down, creating and destroying, keeping everything whirling and flowing, allowing no rest but in rhythmical motion, chasing everything in endless song out of one beautiful form into another. -John Muir, Naturalist and explorer (1838-1914)

He also used to be Fairfield's basketball coach. This could be a real plus for Monroe if they ever need a basketball coach. He could serve as AD and coach and save the district money.

And he's about 7 foot tall so he can teach our kids to slam dunk!

Yeah, I saw Patti, and I think that's Tracy behind her. I have seen Leahy in the past, but was unsure who he was.

I think he was the coach at Fairfield when I went there. Did he also teach. He looks so familiar, maybe because my brother was on the team or I guess I should say he got a seat on the front row bench to watch the games!! I still have to pick on him for that.

Also, I know this might be a stupid question but what does an athletic directer do exactly, besides direct athletics, I need examples.

From David Bauer:
Key Roles of Athletic Director

1. Be a leader of district. Maintain or increase athletic participation, achievements, and community involvement.

2. Provide support to all coaches, advisors and athletes so they can be as successful as possible.

3. Build and maintain a strong relationship between high school and middle school programs.

4. Build and maintain a strong relationship with staff and community in order to instill pride in our schools and athletes.

5. Require and stress the academics in the athletes lives.

6. Provide environment that is conducive to successful athletics. This includes equipment, facilities, uniforms and transportation.

I hope all activities like this are not being cancelled.

At McLean School, Playing Tag Turns Into Hot Potato

By Michael Alison Chandler
Washington Post Staff Writer
Tuesday, April 15, 2008; A01

A playground pastime is getting a timeout this spring at a McLean elementary school.

Robyn Hooker, principal of Kent Gardens Elementary School, has told students they may no longer play tag during recess after determining that the game of chasing, dodging and yelling "You're it!" had gotten out of hand. Hooker explained to parents in a letter this month that tag had become a game "of intense aggression."

I think we could use someone able to build and maintain a strong relationship. We might just need some relationship building here.

John Singleton was our "Activities Director". Is Mr. Bauer's title Athletic Director?

Mr. Bauer was my football coach and a basketball coach during the mid 80's @ Fairfield H.S. when i was there. He is a very nice guy. He played college B.B. @ Cumberland college. he will represent Monroe H.S very well. he also has many connections with coaches at big time schools. He was thought of very hightly @ Fairfield.

I was at Fairfield in the mid 80's and he doesn't even look familiar.... I remember old and young Hubbards (I think Yeatts was in there somewhere too?)...

What did he do when he worked for Edgewood?
