Monroe Crossings Park Director Requests Emergency Rehab Funds
March 23, 2021 - Monroe, Ohio

3/23/2021, Monroe, Ohio - The Public Works Director is requesting approval of a contract between the City of Monroe and Universal Contracting Corporation. This contract will be for Phase 1B which includes:


  • Rehabilitation of the carousel building and adding a playground under it.
  • Adding a small restroom facility that will have two uni-sex bathrooms with a storage room on the back of the building for supplies as well as a server room for IT needs.
  • There will be a large area of hardscape concrete work that will be decorative. There will be several benches, drinking fountains, a safety phone, and several tree plants for landscaping.


  • We are asking Council to approve the award in the amount of $1,890,997.00. This is above what was shown on the bid tabulation sheet. It was determined that a math error occurred in the calculation of the final bid amount and thus the contract award is higher. This did not affect the outcome of the low bidder.

    The Public Works Director is requesting this contract award be an emergency so that the construction can get underway at the earliest possible date to attempt to meet the Labor Day opening date requested by Council.
