Elementary Alps take Zoo-Trip!
Monday, April 15, 2002 12:00:00 AM - Monroe Ohio
Students of the Monroe Elementary Alps program took an unusual field trip Thursday night. Forty-five fourth, fifth and sixth graders (and fifteen chaperones) spent the night in the aquarium at the Cincinnati Zoo! While the students slept, manatees, turtles, gar, and other fish swam around them in a large tank inside the new aquarium building at the zoo. The students also had a night and a morning tour of the zoo, visiting the bird house, the monkeys, bears, lizards and various other animals at different times of the day. They had close up experiences with an egret, alligator and black rat snake and were even allowed to pet the alligator and black rat snake!! The students and chaperones all enjoyed their behind the scenes look at the zoo and no one complained (much) about sleeping on the floor for a night!!
