Monroe Booster Club News

The mission of the Monroe Athletic Booster Club (MABC) is to
facilitate and promote the activities of the Monroe High School's sports
programs. MABC will work with the coaches and administration to support the
athletic program by providing funds, boosting attendance, building morale
and providing an enjoyable healthy environment for the student-athletes.
MABC will be responsible for raising funds required to meet the club's

Hornet Fans,

The school district will have a school levy group of walkers at the
July 4th parade. If you're interested in walking with the group, contact
the administration office.

* The Baseball team (21-3, 12-0) ended their season by losing to
McNicholas, 4-5, in the District meet at Mason High School. Christian
McElroy struck out 10 in 51/3 innings of scoreless mound work in relief of
starter Tyler Haskin. Haskin had two hits and an RBI, Jason Osterman
smacked a run-scoring double and J.C. Kellis added an RBI.

As a first-year pitcher, McElroy finished the season 8-0 with a 2.20 earned
run average. In 53 1/3 innings, he had 32 walks / 82 strikeouts while
holding opposing hitters to a .179 batting average. Osterman, led the team
in batting average (.451), slugging percentage (.732) and on base percentage
(.548). Kellis was second with a .435 average, .536
slugging percentage and .548 on base percentage. Congrats to the team
for a great season!

* Track: Results from the District meet held at Dayton's Welcome

- Joe Farrish placed 2nd in the Discus and earned a spot at
Regionals - 123'7".

- Lindsey Bellaw finished 2nd in the Pole Vault and earned a spot at
Regionals - 8'6".

- Maggie Hinkle finished 4th in the 1600 m. run and earned a spot at
Regionals - 5:41.75.

- Ben Leahy finished 4th in the 400 m. run and earned a spot at Regionals -

- The Boys 4x400 relay didn't qualify for Regionals but broke the school
record for the third time this year: Ben Leahy, Aaron Brewer, Logan Meyer &
Ryan Leahy. Time was 3:36.83.

Alumni News:

Braden McMonigle cleared 6-8 to become Wilmington College's latest
All-American. McMonigle, who jumped a school-record 6-9.5 to advance to the
NCAA meet, cleared his first three bars Saturday without a miss, powering
over at 6-4, 6-6 and 6-8. His first two attempts at 6-9 were solid jumps.
"I want to come back and try to get better," McMonigle said. "I've got a
nice little workout planned for the summer."
