The Monroe Hornets started off the 2010 season and the head coaching career of long time Ohio High School Football Assistant Brett Stubbs with a 17-0  home victory of Dayton Meadowdale.  Monroe got on the board first with 2:49 to play in the first quarter when senior QB David Routson scrambled out of the pocket to find a wide open receiver in fellow senior Dillon Hyden in the end zone. Hyden cradle the 23 yard pass and the extra point was good by Senior Jeremy King.

Monroe took the 7-0 lead into the halftime locker room.  The Hornets struck again with 7:42 to play in the 3rd when Sophomore running back Chris Wilson, the games leading ground gainer with 111 yards on 16 carries, found pay-dirt from 8 yards out.  Jeremy King’s ep was good, Hornets 14  Meadowdale 0.  King completed the scoring with 1:37 to play in the third quarter with a booming 27 yard field goal that would have been good from 40.

Coach Brett Stubbs was presented the game ball for his 1st High School victory as a head coach.  Travis Rice led all Hornet tacklers with 5.  Monroe out-gained the Lions of Meadowdale by  a count of 317 yards to 146. Turnovers by the Hornets kept this one close. Monroe stays home for week # 2  as they welcome in the Ross Rams, a very strong team from the Fort Ancient Valley Conference.
