Monroe Local Schools have had a lot of new students enroll this year it went from a 4 percent to a 5 percent increase in enrollment since school began on August 20th.  The district officials said that there were 67 new enrolled students at the primary school. So far since the end of the 2007-2008 school year there has been 102 new students.

Elizabeth Lolli the Superintendent is still expecting more this year. “Many parents wait to enroll there kids till after Labor Day which is common in other districts throughout the state,” Lolli said. They call the first week of October “count week” which is where all the schools have an official count of the students to turn in on the Educational Management Information System to the Ohio Department of Education.

With an increase of 100 students at the beginning of the year is a big change. Lolli said the staff did a good job at the challenge of placing the students with great efficiency and effectiveness. However additional students in some grade levels can push the school over their class size limits.
