Veterans Park to cost $300k
Monday, December 9, 2002 12:00:00 AM - Monroe Ohio
It was a surprise to at least 1 council member, Robert Youtsler. $300,000 in unplanned costs to build a Veteran's park.

City officials planned to have the park completed by April 30 so Memorial Day services can be held there.

As a taxpayer in Monroe, I question how this all got started? Last week we were informed of the Veteran's park. There was no mention of the park until recently. With all the controversy surrounding Monroe Crossings, this certainly would be an issue that would have been a 'hot' topic for Monroe concerned citizens.

Don't get me wrong, I am grateful for what the Veteran's have done for our country. I am in favor of a park in their honor. It is the funding that I question. I would be happy to donate money, and time to this project, but not tax dollars. There are many vital city services that need 100% of my tax dollars to keep Monroe strong and proudly growing.

God bless Monroe, America and the veterans who helped protect it. And, lets raise the funds for a Veteran's park thru private donations.
