Thought I would post this update by the superintendent. Some positive news. Have a great day.

Last week was a good week for Monroe elementary as several proficiency and achievement scores were reported. I am sure all of you saw the article on the front page of the Middletown Journal reporting our third grade reading achievement scores, which were significant. Additionally, Friday our proficiency scores for the elementary arrived in the district. They were equally impressive. Please note that a 75% passage rate must be obtained in order to be awarded the indicator for the Report Card on Schools. As you can see from the results below, our elementary achieved 8 out of 9 indicators. The results are as follows:
4th grade
Reading 78%
Citizenship 78%
Science 78%
6th grade
Reading 87%
Writing 86%
Math 73%
Citizenship 90%
Science 88%
3rd grade
Reading 87.5%

Test results that are yet to be reported to the district are 4th grade Reading and Writing, 5th grade Reading, and 3rd grade Math. We expect those scores to be in the district no later than the end of June. Our elementary also won a Partnering for Progress Award from the Southwest Ohio Special Education Resource Center.

The district received two of the five OGT scores yesterday. They are as follows:
Math - 81% proficient or above
Reading - 91% proficient or above

Remember 75% proficient or above is the percentage needed to obtain an indicator on the Report Card on Schools. As of this date, 11 scores have been reported and the district has obtained 10 indicators.

How encouraging...
Monroe continues to improve and or maintain high levels of proficiency.
This is a good reflection on our entire community.
The teachers, administration, school board and above all, parents are responsible for our results.
I am proud to live in Monroe. Kudos to all involved in Monroe education.
