Posted - 12/17/2011 : 11:42:30 AM Geneva Wells, 93, of Monroe, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2011, at Mount Pleasant Retirement Village.
Born June 19, 1918, in London, Ky., she was a daughter of the late Bryan and Sallie Beasley Sutton. She was a teacher in Kentucky for 12 years before moving to Middletown City School Systems where she was a teacher at Mayfield Elementary for 36 years, retiring in 1986 with a total of 48 years. Geneva was very active in Butler County Retired Teachers Association. She enjoyed ceramics, quilting, crocheting and many other crafts.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Clifton Wells, in 1993.
Geneva is survived by her daughter, Elaine (Donald) Garver of Middletown; grandchildren, Jody (Mike) Long, Jenny (Joe) DeBord and Janna Williams, all of Monroe; great-grandchildren, Sadie and Hanna Long, Gracie and Will DeBord; sister, Jewel Barnett of Barboursville, W.V.; nephew, Mike Wells of Jacksonville, Fla.; nieces, Beverly Tillis of Chesapeake, Ohio, Debbie Evans of Barboursville, W.V.; and a brother-in-law, George Harold (Marie) Wells of London, Ky.
Visitation will be noon-2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, 2011, at Baker-Stevens-Parramore Funeral Home.
A Celebration of Life Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Tim Draxler and the Rev. Karen Fleming officiating.
Entombment will be at Woodside Cemetery.
In honor of her dedication to educating children, memorial contributions may be made to Women Living United Imagination Library Project – United Way, 300 North Main Street, Suite B, Middletown, OH 45042.
