The Monroe Historical Society & the Monroe Garden Club will jointly host a Quilt & Flower Show on Saturday, May 21 from 10am-2pm at the Museum at 10 E. Elm St. Stop by and see many beautiful handmade quilts and flower arrangements.
In addition, the 1910 General Store Museum at Main & Elm St. will also be open! Take a step back in time to the days of your (or your parents) childhood and we guarantee you will be fascinated by the trip!
BOTH Museums will now be open the 3rd Saturday of each month from 10-2pm!
The Historical Society will be having a raffle this year for a beautiful "Amish Treasure" design quilt lovingly made by members of the Society. Tickets, 6 for $5, will be on sale the day of the show with the drawing in December. Tickets can also be purchased from Society members or by calling Jane Majors at 539-7109. Quilting is an ancient art form that is sadly dying out in our lifetime. It is believed quilting began with Egyptians in 960 BC and came to America with the Pilgrims.
