Last night at the Monroe Council Meeting, the room was at about three-fourth's capacity. Council had 4 guest speakers. They were: Bill Triick, Chamber President, who spoke against council approving the appeal; Chuck Inwood, President Nickerson Supply, speaking in support of council; also in support of council were Lisa Frye of SunCoke Watch Inc. and Mark Chaney, Monroe resident.
On Feb. 9, 2010 the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency issued a New Source Review air permit.Last night Monroe City Council voted Tuesday 6 to 1 to pass an emergency resolution to appeal that air permit.
Monroe is going to appeal this permit to the Environmental Review Appeals Commission. Monroe Council has approved $473,366.13 in fighting SunCoke (SUN) and AK Steel (AKS).
SUN stock is up $0.22 or .84% and AKS is down $0.45 or 2.02% at the time of this publication.
