Monroe Schools Moving "Inside Millage" to Permanent Improvement Fund
Friday, February 11, 2011 10:06:20 AM - Monroe Ohio

The Monroe Local School Board of Education is considering moving inside millage into a permanent improvement fund. The previous board of education had explored this option approximately two years ago. The current Board of Education is seeking a means to secure additional revenue sources without raising local taxes. A meeting to determine if moving inside millage is a viable option has been scheduled for Monday, February 28 at 6:00 PM in the Monroe Elementary Cafeteria. Additional informational meetings will be scheduled after the initial hearing date.

Permanent improvement monies can only be used for building maintenance, technology, debt, textbook purchases, and items that will last longer than 5 years. Permanent improvement money cannot be used for operating expenses such as salaries or benefits. The district currently does not have a permanent improvement fund.
