In hopes of bringing the community together and showing people of all ages that there is more to the game of soccer than meets the eye, Zach Holbrock decided to organize a long overdue alumni soccer game for a gracious cause.
A young girl, and soccer fan, who attends Monroe Elementary School, had successful surgery last summer to remove her cancer after receiving treatment to help shrink the tumor, and will be attending the event. The proceeds raised will be donated to the Cincinnati Child Life Oncology Department in Allison Morris's name. The first game begins at 6:00pm. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students.
Holbrock writes, “The support of the players has been amazing. My hope is that the Monroe community will come together to help support such a special event in hopes of helping young kids from the surrounding areas who have been diagnosed with cancer and are currently being taken care of at the Cincinnati Children's Hospital.” Zach hopes that this event will inspire an annual alumni game tradition for years to come.
The event will feature two soccer games, Alumni vs. Alumni and Monroe’s Men’s Soccer team vs. Alumni. Numerous alumni will be featured in both games.
Holbrock is still attempting to raise money and sponsors for an even more successful charity event.
