November 29, 2004 - Monroe School board presented a proposed $2.18 million sports complex featuring artificial turf and I-Beam Stadium aluminum seating.
According to school board member Tom Birdwell, no new taxes will be required to pay for the stadium. Funds will come from open enrollment, rent from Butler Tech for the Monroe Elementary School and rent from Middletown Schools for the old Lemon-Monroe High School.
School board member, Rocky Heflin, who presented the proposed stadium, said the new field with artificial turf will have permanent lines for both football and soccer. He also said that the field will be open for use by the community of Monroe.
The proposal was unanimously approved by the board to be put out for bid.
