 The mall project has been ongoing for the better part of 2 years or so. Although there has been little activity on the project for the past 6 - 9 months, the project is very much alive and viable, contrary to various newspapers reporting otherwise. There is no new information regarding the mall project at this time. It is not uncommon for large retail projects such as this one, to remain in a "holding" pattern for 2 - 5 years while the market is further evaluated and mall tenants are tentatively lined up. One reason why there has been no activity on this project (my opinion only here) is the announcement of various nearby retail projects in 2000 including the Nordstrom anchored Deerfield Twp. mall and the large retail project at Union Centre Blvd. in West Chester. Now with support possibly waning on some of these projects (again, according to what you read in the papers), these current events may bode well for the Monroe Mall becoming a reality someday. |
