The Monroe Fire Department is proud to announce the winners of the 2005 Fire Prevention Week Coloring Contest. This annual event follows an educational program provided for grades K-2nd by the Monroe Firefighters. During this program children are taught about fire safety in the home, smoke detectors, exit drills and the use off 911. The pictures were judged by Fire Department staff and as always, choosing winners was very difficult this year. An awards ceremony for the winners and their families will be held in December at Fire Headquarters. Trophies, savings bonds and dinner will be provided followed by an in-depth station tour. Parents and children will have an opportunity to wear fire gear and handle some of the fire equipment commonly utilized by firefighters. A simulated rescue will also be staged where participants will utilize the thermal imaging camera to locate family members.
Also a very special thanks to our local businesses without which, we could not provide this wonderful program;
Baker Concrete & Construction
Fastlane Pizza
Edy’s Ice Cream
Steve’s Trophies
First Financial Bank
US Bank
And last but not least, The Monroe Firefighter’s L 3824
These participants give until it hurts each year so that we can provide a fire safety program that is beneficial and rewarding for our children.
We are very proud of all the participants in this year’s program and hope that everyone has a safe and happy holiday season.
